Spreader Beam

Spreader beams are used in rigging and loading for a variety of construction as well as transportation. They are basically just a very rigid steel section with multiple connection points to attach both the lifter (usually a crane) and the object being lifted. The crane typically lifts from a single point, so you use a spreader beam to split the cranes line of force into two diagonal forces, attached to the ends of the spreader beam.
